Track cycling has grown to become a large part of the sporting landscape in Canterbury in the last 50 years. Bolstered by the building of Denton Park for the 1974 Commonwealth Games, the sport has grown in popularity amongst all ages. The sport was buoyed with the inception of our Track Cycling Development Programme in 1985. Fostering cycling talent across all levels, in its time, the programme has helped produce two Olympic winners and four world champions.
CTC's Development Programme is the premier
introductory track cycling programme in New Zealand. The Programme began in 1985 and has introduced
many young (and adult) Cantabrians to the exciting sport of track cycling.
The Development Programme fee includes our four-week training programme, the hire of a club track bike for the season, track levy, and ongoing tuition during the season.
