The 2025 Canterbury Track Cycling Open Championship will take place over four sessions – Wednesday 22, Friday 24, Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 January.
All riders U15 and over must hold a 2024 Cycling New Zealand Licence to compete in these Championships. To obtain a Licence go to the CNZ site: https://www.cyclingnewzealand.nz/clubs-and-membership/
All Championships are run under CyclingNZ Road and Track Rules and CTC guidelines for the Championships: three starters or no Championship event. This will be an Open championship, so although Canterbury titles can only be won by Canterbury-registered riders, riders from other centres are welcome to compete, making this a perfect opportunity to prepare for Nationals. Riders from other centres will only be eligible for a medal should they win an event, in which case a second gold medal will be awarded to the first Canterbury rider.
To be eligible to ride the National Track Championships for Canterbury Track Cycling Club, riders must compete at the Canterbury Championships. Riders in national training programmes and trade teams will be given dispensation if they live out of Canterbury, or have racing, programme or team commitments over the dates of Canterbury Championships. Riders prevented from competing due to illness or injury must provide a medical certificate to be considered for selection.
